Size Guide

Everything below uses standard United States sizing. If you are between two sizes, or you are buying a gift and guessing, write to us before you order. We would rather help you get it right the first time than process a return.

Rings

Ring size is set by the inside of the band, not the outside. Measure a ring you already wear and love, or wrap a strip of paper around the base of your finger, mark where it overlaps, and measure that length in millimetres.

US size Inside diameter Inside circumference
4 14.9 mm 46.8 mm
4.5 15.3 mm 48.0 mm
5 15.7 mm 49.3 mm
5.5 16.1 mm 50.6 mm
6 16.5 mm 51.9 mm
6.5 16.9 mm 53.1 mm
7 17.3 mm 54.4 mm
7.5 17.7 mm 55.7 mm
8 18.1 mm 57.0 mm
8.5 18.5 mm 58.3 mm
9 18.9 mm 59.5 mm
9.5 19.4 mm 60.8 mm
10 19.8 mm 62.1 mm
10.5 20.2 mm 63.4 mm
11 20.6 mm 64.6 mm
11.5 21.0 mm 65.9 mm
12 21.4 mm 67.2 mm
13 22.2 mm 69.7 mm

Most women in the United States wear a 6 or 7. Most men wear a 9 or 10. Two things worth knowing before you measure: fingers swell in heat and late in the day, so measure in the evening for a size you can live with year round. And a wide band feels tighter than a thin one at the same size, so if you are buying a band 6 mm or wider, go up half a size.

Adjustable and stackable styles are marked as such on the product page and will fit a range of sizes without you needing any of this.

Necklaces and chains

Length is measured end to end with the chain laid flat, clasp included.

Length Where it sits
14 in / 36 cm Snug around the base of the neck. A true collar.
16 in / 41 cm Choker length. Sits right at the collarbone.
18 in / 46 cm The most common length. Falls just below the collarbone.
20 in / 51 cm A couple of inches lower. Good over a crew neck.
22 in / 56 cm Sits at the top of the bust.
24 in / 61 cm Mid bust. Reads long on most people.
28 in / 71 cm and longer Below the bust. Meant to be seen on its own or doubled.

If you want to layer, leave at least two inches between each chain so they do not fight each other. A 16, 18 and 22 together is a reliable place to start.

To measure without a chain to hand: run a piece of string around your neck where you want the pendant to fall, mark it, and lay it flat against a ruler.

Bracelets

Wrap a strip of paper or a tape measure snugly around your wrist, just below the wrist bone, then add half an inch for a close fit or a full inch if you like a bracelet to move.

Size Wrist measurement Bracelet length
Small 5.5 to 6 in 6.5 in
Medium 6 to 6.5 in 7 in
Large 6.5 to 7 in 7.5 in
Extra large 7 to 7.5 in 8 in

Beaded and stretch styles have some give and generally fit a wrist between 6 and 7.5 in without a size choice.

Anklets

Measure around the narrowest part of your ankle and add one inch. Most people land between 9 and 10 in. Anything shorter tends to sit uncomfortably tight when you walk.

Hoop earrings

Hoops are measured by outside diameter, so a 30 mm hoop is 30 mm across.

Diameter How it reads
8 to 12 mm Huggie. Sits tight to the lobe. Fine for a second or third piercing.
15 to 20 mm Small hoop. Everyday, sits just under the lobe.
25 to 40 mm Medium. Visible without taking over.
50 mm and up Statement. Choose a light gauge unless you are used to weight.

Body jewelry gauges

Gauge measures thickness, and the number runs backwards. A higher number is a thinner post.

Gauge Thickness Usually used for
20G 0.8 mm Nostril piercings, delicate studs
18G 1.0 mm Nostril, helix, cartilage, flat back studs
16G 1.2 mm Septum, helix, industrial, lip and labret
14G 1.6 mm Navel, septum, tongue, nipple

Match the gauge you were pierced at. Forcing a thicker post through a healed piercing will tear it, and a thinner one can let the hole shrink. If you are not sure what you have, your piercer can tell you in seconds.
